About Me

I Believe in Romeo charts my journey with depression and anxiety as I try to defeat the stigma around mental illness. I blog about self-care, living with mental illness, defining recovery, therapy, and learning to love yourself. Out of negative life circumstances can come positivity; and I want to normalize mental illness so that no one ever has to feel as alone as I did when I was first struggling with my illness. Recovery is different for everyone, and while I will always have depression, I won't always be depressed.

Bio:

I am a 25-year old mental health blogger and an ambassador for stigma reduction group See Change. When I was 18 years old I was diagnosed with depression. I had been lost in a spiral of self-harm and suicide until I got help. A diagnosis gave me relief and comfort. I learned I was not alone.

Every day since has been a journey as I try to live with my mental illness. I will not let it define me.

Currently I'm writing about how I look after my mental health daily. Occasionally I rant about stigma in the media.

In 2016, I undertook a 10 month self-improvement programme The Romeo Project

  1. Hello Zoe, I've been following your blog for some time now, since we exchanged tweets when finding solutions for depressed days. I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy it and appreciate your amazing honesty and courage. Also, how mature your thinking is - I'm 55 and have struggled with depression all my life but especially in my 20s - I just floundered then, but you're really addressing things head on and inspiring others, too! I know it's still not always easy - so good luck and thanks! Anne

  4. Hi Zoe, Ive just read a few posts on your blog, I feel encouraged and inspired by your honesty, and your positivity. From one wondering soul to another, press on to find your calm in the raging storm, keep your eyes fixed on the light, don't be overwhelmed in the darkness. Remember, real friends stick through silence, I only have 3, but all I need is those 3.
